Heading out from Belsize Park

Walking through St. John's Wood

You're with me feeling good

Soon we'll be there

Primrose Hill

There's the city that I love

Blue sky up above

Watch the children running around

Hit the pub drink one down

Primrose Hill

Down the hill to Regents Park

We'll feed the swans

Walk back up Abbey Road

Can you hear?

Can you hear those sounds?

In our flat where Hugo lived

Nick lived down the street

Squirrel's back for a treat

Come let's walk on to

Primrose Hill

I lived in London for three years in a ground-floor flat in Belsize Park, up the street from where Nick Drake lived.  My love and I used to walk through St. John's Wood to Primrose Hill which is a lovely park with commanding views of the London skyline.  If you walk south down the hill from Primrose Hill you get to Regents Park where we would feed the swans and hang out.  Sometimes on the way back, we would walk back up Abbey Road past Abbey Road Studios.  So many magical sounds have come out of that place.  Our flat had a nice garden in back and a squirrel used to come to the kitchen window for treats. The poet Hugo Manning previously lived in our flat and, when we moved, we left behind a volume of his work on the mantle.  There is a plaque on the front of the building in his honour.

I loved living in London.  This is my homage to my former home.

For Nick...one of my favorite composers and musicians.
